WARREN KING | Jan. 21, 1953 - Jan. 29, 2010
Sunday, January 31, 2010
By Scott Mervis, Pittsburgh Post-Gazette
If Pittsburgh had a bona fide guitar hero in the 1970s and '80s, it was Warren King. He put the fire in such bands as Diamond Reo and The Silencers.
Mr. King died Friday of liver cancer, just 12 days after he played his final gig. He was 57.
He is survived by his mother, Norma King, and his sister, Diane Ghezzi, both of Carlsbad, Calif.; and brother Dennis, of Bellingham, Wash.
A memorial service will be held Feb. 6 at 1 p.m. at the H.P. Brandt Funeral Home, 1032 Perry Highway, Ross.
